What is a Ford Ranger ECU remap?
Your Ranger's factory ECU is calibrated conservatively for a global market and the worst-case owner. A Ford Ranger remap rewrites that calibration, the fuel, boost and timing, to suit how the vehicle is actually driven here: towing the van, touring loaded, working a full tray. The result is a ute that feels like the one Ford could have built for Australian conditions.
A real custom remap is not an off-the-shelf chip or a remote, mail-order file that never sees your Ranger. We read the vehicle, write the tune for your exact engine, then verify it on the dyno. The factory map is saved first, so the tune is fully reversible. The Ranger is one of the most common utes through the workshop, so the calibrations are proven on local vehicles, not a generic average. This is part of our diesel tuning work in Adelaide. Tell us your Ranger's year and engine and we will tell you what is realistic.

More torque, better towing and economy for your Ranger
The gains that matter on a Ranger are about usable, real-world performance, not a single dyno headline. Every figure depends on your engine and any supporting mods, so we quote the realistic range for your vehicle rather than a number off a brochure. Here is where a tune makes the difference Ranger owners feel:
- Stronger low- and mid-range torque for towing caravans, boats and trailers, and for pulling a loaded tray up hills without the auto hunting for gears.
- Sharper throttle response so the 10-speed auto on the Next-Gen and PX Mk3 stops feeling lazy off the mark and in traffic.
- Better real-world fuel economy when driven sensibly. Many Ranger owners towing or touring see lower litres per 100km after a tune. The honest caveat: drive it hard and you will use more.
- Cooler, monitored EGTs. We recommend fitting an exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor so the engine is protected on long climbs, because over-fuelling without one can void warranty on related repairs.
- Matched as a package, not one part. The remap is matched to any supporting mods (intake, exhaust, transmission lock-up) so the gains are safe and usable.
Gains depend on your engine and supporting mods, so we give you a realistic range for your Ranger rather than an invented figure. The 3.2 5-cylinder (PX, PX Mk2, PX Mk3), the 2.0 Bi-Turbo (PX Mk3 and Next-Gen) and the Next-Gen 3.0 V6 each respond differently. Ask us what is realistic for your engine and build, and we will show you what the dyno backs up.

Your Ranger tuned and verified on our in-house dyno
Every Ranger tune is written and load-tested live on our in-house chassis dyno. We measure real airflow, fuelling and EGTs under load, then dial the map to your specific vehicle, rather than flashing a generic file and hoping. That is why the gains are real and repeatable on a Ranger, not a brochure claim. Your factory map is saved first, so the tune stays reversible.
We photograph the work and send you the images as proof of workmanship. We are an RAA Approved Repairer and all our work is fully guaranteed, with a 100% Result Guarantee and a 6-month or 10,000km service warranty on tunes.
Which Ford Ranger generations we tune
- PX, PX Mk2 and PX Mk3 (2011 to 2022) - the 3.2 5-cylinder and 2.0 Bi-Turbo. This is the bread-and-butter Ranger remap, straightforward and proven.
- Next-Gen Ranger (2022 on) - the 3.0 V6 and 2.0 Bi-Turbo. A newer platform, and some late-model ECUs are locked (see below for the module path).
- Ranger Raptor - petrol and performance variants. Enquire, and we will handle it case by case.
Find your generation above and the answer is yes, we tune it. Ring us with the build year and engine for a straight answer on your exact Ranger.

What if your Ranger's ECU can't be remapped?
Some newer Rangers, including parts of the Next-Gen range and late PX Mk3 vehicles, have locked ECUs that cannot yet be safely remapped. In those cases we fit a piggyback or module solution instead. We are an authorised Uni-Chip dealer and an ECU=Shop modules for locked-ECU vehicles dealer and tuner, so your Ranger still gets a real, tested result. For the standard remap path, see ECU remapping.
Ranger DPF and EGR: the honest position
On a road-registered Ranger, removing or defeating the DPF or EGR is illegal in Australia and can void your insurance and warranty, so we do not do it on registered vehicles. We would rather keep you legal and keep your filter working than sell you a problem.
For a blocked or failing DPF on a registered Ranger, the right fix is our professional DPF clean from $550. It restores power, economy and the normal regen cycle, keeps you legal and roadworthy, and costs a fraction of replacement.
DPF and EGR removal is only for off-road, competition or non-registered Rangers, such as dedicated build rigs and export vehicles. For those it is done properly: mechanical removal plus a custom dyno-verified tune that is EGT-safe. See DPF delete (off-road only) and EGR delete (off-road only).

Ford Ranger remap pricing
The honest entry point is custom ECU remapping from $1,395. The final figure depends on your Ranger's engine and year, whether supporting mods (an EGT sensor, exhaust, transmission lock-up) are included, and whether it is a remap or a module fit for a locked ECU. We will quote your Ranger once we know the build and how you use it, not from a fixed menu. Free loan cars mean a day off the Ranger is not a day off the road.
Custom ECU remapping, reversible. Final quote depends on your Ranger's engine, year and supporting mods.

Ford Ranger ECU remap FAQs
Yes when driven sensibly. A custom tune optimises fuelling for how you actually drive, and many Ranger owners towing or touring see lower real-world consumption. The honest caveat: drive it hard and you will use more.
Yes. We save the factory map before any changes, so your Ranger can be returned to stock at any time.
Every Ranger tune is written and verified live on our in-house chassis dyno under load, never a generic remote file emailed in.
A correctly matched tune with EGT monitoring is safe. We fit an exhaust gas temperature sensor because over-fuelling without one can damage the engine and void warranty on related repairs. All our work is guaranteed, with a 6-month or 10,000km service warranty on tunes.
The 3.2 5-cylinder and 2.0 Bi-Turbo (PX, PX Mk2 and PX Mk3) and the Next-Gen 3.0 V6 and 2.0 Bi-Turbo. Some late-model ECUs are locked, so we fit a tested module instead.
