What does a car air conditioning service include?
A proper A/C service is more than a servo quick re-gas. We check the system pressures and refrigerant level, inspect for leaks (dye and electronic leak detection) rather than just refilling gas that will leak straight back out, evacuate and recharge with the correct refrigerant and the right amount, and check the compressor, condenser, drier, hoses and cabin filter. Where a musty smell points to bacteria in the evaporator, we de-odorise and treat the system. This is part of our brakes, suspension and air-con services.
Topping up gas without finding the leak is a band-aid: we find and fix the cause. Not sure if it just needs a re-gas or a repair? Book it in and we will diagnose it.
Signs your car air conditioning needs a service
- Air that is not cold (or only cold when moving), usually low refrigerant or a leak.
- A musty or sour smell when you turn it on, which is bacteria or mould in the evaporator.
- Air-con that blows warm intermittently or cuts out, which could be the compressor, a sensor or an electrical fault.
- Weak airflow, often a blocked cabin filter or a fan issue.
- It has not been serviced in 2 or more years. Refrigerant naturally depletes over time, and a service catches small leaks early.
We diagnose the cause and quote before doing the work, and we will not charge for work that is not needed.

Air conditioning for cars, trucks and 4WDs
We service and repair air conditioning on:
- Passenger cars and family SUVs.
- 4WDs and utes (Ranger, Hilux, D-Max, Triton, Navara, LandCruiser and the rest of the touring fleet).
- Light and heavy trucks.
- Off-road and construction or earthmoving equipment, a genuine point of difference most A/C shops will not touch.
If it has an air-con system and it has stopped keeping you cool, bring it in. Already booking your 4WD in? Ask about 4x4 suspension and diesel tuning while it is here.

Air conditioning service pricing
The cost depends on whether the system just needs a re-gas and service or whether there is a leak or failed component to repair. We diagnose first and quote before any repair work, and a straightforward service or re-gas is an affordable, fast job. Free loan cars are available while your vehicle is in. Tell us your vehicle and what it is doing, and we will quote it once we have diagnosed it.
Car air conditioning FAQs
Around every 2 years, or sooner if it is not blowing as cold as it used to. Refrigerant slowly depletes even with no fault, and a regular service catches small leaks before they become expensive repairs.
Most often low refrigerant from a slow leak, but it can also be a faulty compressor, a sensor or an electrical issue. We diagnose the cause rather than just topping up gas that will leak out again.
Yes. A musty or sour smell is usually bacteria or mould in the evaporator. We de-odorise and treat the system so it smells clean again, and check the cabin filter while we are there.
We find the leak. Topping up refrigerant without fixing the cause is a temporary band-aid; we use leak detection so the repair actually lasts.
Yes. We service and repair air conditioning on cars, trucks, 4WDs and off-road and construction equipment, which most A/C shops will not touch.
A standard service or re-gas is usually a same-day job. If we find a leak or a failed part, we will quote the repair before doing the work, and a free loan car keeps you moving.
